Al-Shehri’s early penalty sends Tigers to Round of 16.
Al-Ittihad booked their place in the Round of 16 of the King Cup with a 1–0 win over Al-Wehda at King Abdullah Sports City, thanks to an early goal by striker Saleh Al-Shehri.
The Tigers started with intensity and control, pushing high from the first whistle. Their efforts were rewarded just nine minutes in, when Al-Shehri calmly converted a penalty to give Al-Ittihad the lead, a lead they would expertly defend for the remainder of the match.
Al-Wehda looked to respond, creating a few dangerous moments, but Al-Ittihad’s defense held firm. The backline was composed, and the goalkeeper made critical interventions when needed, preserving the clean sheet.
It was a disciplined, composed performance from the reigning champions, who managed the game with maturity and saw off a determined Al-Wehda side to secure a place in the next round.
